Is the novel by Mulk Raj Anand, "Untouchable", accurate? I read it in college along with Anita Desai's work. I find India to be a colorful culture and watched a documentary on the sustainable agriculture there. It is hard for me to imagine this, but I am sure it happens. Just as, in the US, as Ericj said, I too watched that documentary on how job applicants are discriminated against based on perceived race.

No one belongs to any race, unless it is the human race, and that, still, is debatable. What a shame that there are people with such limited views.

But you know what?! Life is about what you CAN do. I am glad that you bring awareness to this unfairness. What more can you do? Are you a lawyer? can you sue?

Sometimes we get caught up in the criticism of life instead of living it, I'm not saying it isn't important to point out what is wrong, but if you don't have a solution to how to help make it right, you are just wasting your breath.

Has it not occurred to you that, if the IDF had wanted to fake this, they could have done a much better job, introducing sub-machine guns, grenades, rocket launchers etc.? Yet you try to play even this down: 'Mostly kitchen knives, plus some construction tools'. Look at the bloody knives. All but a few are lethal and quite a few are by no stretch of the imagination kitchen knives. There are slingshots (and marbles to go in therm), axes, firebombs, gas masks, bullet-proof vests. All for working in the kitchen as you suggest? There is none so blind as he who lets a cause rot his brain.

If you have to explain the message, then it is a bad message. A better message is a better solution (in this instance).
Something like "Git was unable to automatically merge your changes with the master" would be better but this may still be unhelpful for some.
A better solution is to suggest available options to fix the problem.
For example:
Your options are:
1. Discard your local changes.
To do this use: git reset --hard
     then: git pull
     then retype your changes.
2. Manually merge you changes.
To do this use: git mergetool
then: git commit; git pull; git push

Marty Nemko also complains about how Obama is a socialist and that the unproductive are taking from the productive and he constantly disparages the unemployed. His attitude is that if you are unemployed it is because you are unworthy of employment. He doesn't seem to remember the bail out of the banking industry by the taxpayers. The CEOs made poor decisions and get bailed out and many middle class people lose their jobs while the CEOs get huge bonuses. I am tired of the blame the victim mentality by conservative commentators. BTW, I am in the 5%

I work for a small (3 guys) bootstrapped startup that does automatic project time tracking:

http://chrometa.com

It watches your window titles rather than asking you to actively manage what you are doing, and then lets you categorize time after the fact. You can automate that with rules as well. It also integrates with Freshbooks.

Anyway, not trying to spam, just found your link through HN and thought you might find it useful.

Cheers,
Carson

Speaking of logging hours, I signed up for Freshbooks recently--so far I love it. The pop-out timer is very simple and intuitive. I actually pause the timer if I'm going to zone out for a while and sip my coffee at Starbucks. Invoicing is a breeze, like just now I clicked "New Invoice" and it builds a nice detailed report of everything I worked on and the money appears in my Paypal.

I was very disappointed with Harvest. I had to clear my cache for some reason while working on a project. Well, apparently Harvest stores (stored?) lots of important data in the browser. In other words, a lot of my data just DISAPPEARED from my account, just because I cleared my cache! Somehow that zeroed out most of my data. Hopefully they have this fixed by now. I'll give Harvest credit for trying to win me over but after a bad experience like that, my mind is made up.

Freshbooks is not terribly sophisticated like many of the other options--so if you're not looking to fuss around tracking dozens of not-so-important details, I recommend Freshbooks. I have no connection to the company--I'm just a happy customer spreading the word :-)

Hi,

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this. I was also arrested at this protest. I think it was the same station. I was in the women's cell (there were approx 5 other cells containing men, then our's). It's quite traumatic reading this back actually.

The UK government were also openly hostile rather than helpful when we called for help upon release.

Thanks again.
