	&lt;p&gt;I &lt;strong&gt;never&lt;/strong&gt; channel-surf anymore. I don&#8217;t even know what channels we get.  Instead, I have it record a couple shows and watch them at my leasure, fast-forwarding through commercials.&lt;/p&gt;


	&lt;p&gt;There is the temptation to watch more (it records every episode of Family Guy, new and old), but if you&#8217;re not a big watcher anyway, the temptation is less.&lt;/p&gt;


	&lt;p&gt;Personally, I wouldn&#8217;t spend the money on a Tivo (or good cable).  BitTorrent would be my choice too.  &lt;span class=&quot;caps&quot;&gt;OTOH&lt;/span&gt;, I do like how some networks let me watch last week&#8217;s shows for free, with limited ads.
