Ahimsa.indymedia documents unsealed
Our friendly free speech loving lawyers at the EFF have managed to get most of the documents related to the Ahimsa server seizure to be unsealed.
Jebba, who setup ahimsa, has a great collection of images and photos related to the ahimsa seizure.
Of course, not all the documents are unsealed, just having these makes it much easier to see what happened. There are a few big questions.
It’s now pretty clear that Rackspace lied about the nature of the legal papers they were served with, they seized hardware they were not asked to seize, they refused to share information with their clients on factious legal grounds. Given their practices and the assumption that they’d act the same in the future, i strongly recommend against anybody hosting at rackspace. Just think, you get a dmca request about copyrighted material and rackspace just takes your box offline, refusing to say who and what requested it, maybe they’d get ambitious and even delete the offending content, and give it back to you a week later with no explanation. If you care about your servers, don’t host at rackspace, or it’s sister company serverbeach.
